CEBU, Philippines - A 52-year-old man died after he was ran over by a multicab and hit by two other vehicles along the South Road in Pardo, Cebu City at almost 2 a.m. yesterday.

Romeo Barrientos, a resident of Sabellano Street in Barangay Pardo, died on the spot after three vehicles hit his body. His companion, Gedion Segismundo, 58, a resident of Poblacion Pardo, was seriously injured.

A report from the Traffic Office showed that the two were crossing in front of a public market when they were hit by a taxicab speeding towards Cebu City.

Barrientos was thrown and then hit by a private Nissan Sentra Sedan with plate numbers WPY-704 driven by Roberto Gerald Macalalad, 41.

According to the report, Macalalad was driving on the opposite direction on his way home to Corazon Village, Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City when Barrientos allegedly hit the left portion of his vehicle.

The victim was subsequently run over by a multicab. The drivers of both the taxi and the multicab remain unidentified. Witnesses failed to get their license plate numbers.

Barrientos suffered from severe head injuries while Segismundo was seriously hurt and was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Macalalad’s vehicle was issued an impounding receipt. His driver’s license was issued by Temporary Operating Permit. He was temporarily held at the Traffic Office pending filing of appropriate complaint before the City Prosecutors Office.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
