CEBU, Philippines - One person died and two were seriously wounded, including a 13 year old boy, in three separate shooting incidents last Monday.
Bobby Rabago of Barangay Tangke, Talisay City died of gunshot wound in his chest minutes after he was brought to the Talisay City District Hospital. He was shot at around 7:00 p.m. by a certain Eugene at Sitio Rattan, Barangay Tangke.
Rabago was having a drinking spree with his friends when the suspect arrived and started shooting at the victim without any provocation.
In Danao City, Nico Batoon Camargo, 28, was shot by a security guard after he was caught stealing the iron fence of a golf course. Angelito Carcela, 36, said he caught Camargo on the act of stealing the iron fence by cutting it using a hacksaw.
The guard voluntarily surrendered to the Danao Police Station after the incident and turned over his 12 gauge shotgun.
In another incident, a 13 year old school drop out was injured after having shot at by two security guards in Barangay Cogon West, Carmen, Cebu.
SPO2 Renerio Masukol of the Carmen Police station told The Freeman that the victim was with his friends beside a building to get some grass for their animals. The building caretaker, Michael Habiles, allegedly reprimanded the victim.
Security guards Joel Campaña Bacus, 26 and Renato Ompad Daño, 35 upon hearing Habiles immediately responded. They saw the victim holding a scythe and immediately fired at him.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his right leg and hand. He was initially brought to the Danao City District Hospital but was later referred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
The two security guards were arrested the members of the Carmen police. The guards were disarmed of their 12 gauge shotguns. – THE FREEMAN
