Bantayan police nab "drug courier"

- Mellanie Joy C. Rosales -

CEBU, Philippines - A man suspected to be transporting illegal drugs was arrested by the police in Barangay Binaobao, Bantayan, Cebu last Sunday morning.

An informant went to Bantayan Police Station and reported that Enrique Negre Salino alias “Apra,” 53, resident of Barangay Suba was carrying illegal drugs locally known as shabu from Barangay Binaobao going to Barangay Suba.

Police officers immediately conducted a follow-up operation in connection with the information given by the tipster.

When the policemen arrived in Barangay Binaobao, they saw Salino riding a trisikad but upon seeing the police officers, the suspect allegedly attempted to throw a folded green face towel he was carrying.

The police officers ordered Salino to open the folded face towel and found out that there were two medium-sized plastic packs believed to be containing shabu inside the towel.

During inspection, it was learned that each of the medium-sized plastic packs contained 10 small plastic sachets, or a total of 20 sachets of suspected shabu with estimated market value of P6,000.

Suspect will be charged for violation of Sec.5 Article II of R.A. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
