Tanod mauled, stabs attackers

CEBU, Philippines - Two alleged gang members were injured after a tanod of Barangay Capitol Site, who they reportedly mauled, stabbed them yesterday dawn.

Desiderio Lato Jr. and Joselito Solon, both single, residents of Villalon Drive, Brgy. Capitol Site, were admonished by Barangay Tanod Danny Alvios for smoking inside a dance hall.

But the two, who are allegedly members of a gang, mauled Alvios. The tanod, who was alone in keeping the peace and order of the dance hall, went home but came back later already armed with a hunting knife.

Alvios found the victims still inside the dance hall and stabbed them. Caballes sustained a stab wound in his chest while Solon only suffered minor injury.

They were brought to Cebu Doctors University Hospital for treatment. Solon however was not confined as his injury does not require.

Alvios on the other hand fled after the incident and was no longer found by the responding operatives of the Mobile Patrol Group. —THE FREEMAN
