Greg will still help farmers despite "harassment"

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Vice Gov. Gregorio Sanchez, Jr. will continue his programs to help the farmers in various towns despite what he considers as “harassment” made against him by the Office of the Governor.

According to Sanchez, the seminars conducted by his office for the residents and officials of the different barangays are not for himself, but for the people especially the farmers.

He believes that the people in the barangays, especially the farmers, need assistance in terms of new technology.

Sanchez is now facing charges before the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas for allegedly using Capitol employees to work in his farmland in Tuburan town.

Sanchez said his small farm in Tuburan was being used as a demo farm so farmers can be taught modern technology and new farming techniques.

He admitted that he felt sad with the Office of the Governor’s actions against him.

Capitol Spokesman Rory Jon Sepulveda, as a private citizen, filed the complaint against Sanchez before the anti-graft office.

Sepulveda denied Sanchez’s accusation of harassment, saying they have evidence against the vice governor. — THE FREEMAN
