Mormon youth to gather in Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - Over 2,000 youth from the Visayas and Mindanao will gather at the Cebu Coliseum today to witness a cultural celebration held on the eve of the dedication of the Cebu City temple of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Latter Day Saints youth aged 12-18 will perform songs and dances that depict the local history and culture.
Earlier this month, over 1,000 youth from remote areas performed various dance numbers and was recorded for a simultaneous playing at Cebu Coliseum during the celebration today.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our young people to demonstrate their talents and celebrate the building of another temple in the Philippines” said Elder Won Yong Ko, a member of he Philippines Area Presidency.
“It is also a rare privilege for them to perform for our prophet,” Elder Ko added.
Thomas S. Monson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and other senior leaders of Mormons will be present for the said celebration.
The show will take the audience through the colorful history of the Philippines from pre-colonial days to the war years until the present with the twist on how the Mormons begin in the Philippines. (FREEMAN NEWS)
