Rift between Gwen, Greg won't affect delivery of basic services - Rory

CEBU, Philippines - The ongoing conflict between Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. will not affect the delivery of basic services to the people, Capitol spokesperson Rory John Sepulveda said yesterday.

Sepulveda said the different departments at Capitol have been instructed to ensure the implementation of services up to the barangay level.

Sepulveda yesterday denied the filing of the case against the vice governor for allegedly assigning Capitol employees to his farm in Tuburan town is pure harassment. He said the case was filed based on pure evidence.

“Ipatubag niya ang tanang mga kaso nga atong gipasaka kay basi man kini sa mga ebidensya nga atong nakuha,” Sepulveda said.

He said they have also received reports that Sanchez is allegedly using his office to hold meetings about his private businesses.

“Dunay nadawat nato nga reports bahin sa iyang gipatawag nga meeting bahin sa negosyo, ato ning gipa verify karon,” Sepulveda said.

Sanchez, for his part, admitted he has been receiving comments about the ongoing conflict between him and the Governor, but said he is only doing his job to protect the interest of the legislative department.

“Maoy akong pahibawo sa atong mga kaigsoonan nga Sugbuanon nga akong gibuhat mao lang ang pagseguro nga dili nila mabinuangan ang legislative department ug ang akong buhatan,” said Sanchez.

Sanchez said the Office of the Governor has allegedly been harassing him since last year starting when the employees and equipment used in the study of the proposed Trans-Axial Highway were recalled from his office.

Recently, the Office of the Governor also ordered to recall the vehicle issued to Garcia’s office, but was assigned to the Office of the Vice Governor. — THE FREEMAN
