- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City council yesterday granted the city three years legislative authority for the temporary usage of the old school division office in barangay Basak as venue for the city college.

At the present, the Department of Education-Region VII is still finalizing the details for the permanent location of the city college and in the meantime, it needs a temporary venue to hold classes and other related activities.

Recently, the DepEd-Lapu-Lapu City Division office transferred to its new office leaving the old building vacant.

According to Cuizon, there are 370 students are enrolled in the new Lapu-Lapu City college with four courses being offered –elementary and secondary education, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.

Cuizon said the city college was established through City Ordinance No. 354-2010, designed to serve indigent students of the city by providing them access to quality and affordable education.  – THE FREEMAN
