LP backs Greg in baring Gwen's "irregularities"
CEBU, Philippines - Liberal Party chairman in Cebu Hilario “Jun-jun” Davide III defended vice governor Greg Sanchez over the alleged plan to discredit Governor Gwen Garcia’s administration and cause her suspension, saying that Sanchez is only doing his job as part of the LP.
The intention of the LP is to fight graft and corruption, Davide said. Exposing Garcia’s reported illegal activities only goes by saying LP is living up to its mission.
“He has the right and duty to expose to the public the irregularities at the provincial capitol under Gwen’s administration. He is just doing his job,” Davide said.
“Even if I lost, our advocacy continues. So we support Vice Governor Sanchez on this,” he added.
Davide is planning to file a complaint against Garcia over the P5 Cebu South Bus Terminal fee charged to passengers whenever they enter the terminal.
The terminal fee is allegedly illegal because there was no ordinance enabling the collection of the entrance fee.
Garcia will be sued before the Office of the Ombudsman if she does not heed the call of the LP to scrap the terminal fee.
Davide said that they are also helping Sanchez in urging the Ombudsman to speed up the resolution of the pending cases against Garcia including among others the case involving the Balili property and the Cebu International Convention Center.
“There is also some information of alleged irregularities at the Capitol which we are trying to verify. Of all these alleged graft and corruption, the governor should really be pursued,” he said.
Sanchez was earlier accused of having a “grand plan” to ruin the reputation of Garcia so she will be suspended under the administration of leading presidential candidate Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
