Woman charged for allegedly selling shabu

CEBU, Philippines - A criminal complaint for violation of the Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act, was filed against a woman after she was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Palabayan, Barangay Tajao, Pinamungajan, Cebu.

Joy Florenda Elmetanio, 27, a resident of the area was arrested by the police officers of Pinamungajan Police Station last June 2 at around 11:30 p.m.

In a joint affidavit submitted by the arresting officers Insp. Albert R. Quilitorio, PO2s Reynante P. Mahusay and Erwin R. Paylado and PO1 Marcelo N. Inso, they stated that they received a report about illegal drug selling activities in Sitio Palabayan that prompted them to conduct a drug bust in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7 (PDEA-7).

The police officers and PDEA 7 agents proceeded to the place and immediately conducted a buy-bust operation against Elmetanio, who was identified by the informant as the one selling illegal drugs.

PO2 Paylado, who acted as poseur buyer handed two P100 bills that served as buy bust money to Elmetanio, who in turn, handed one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet believed to be containing shabu to the police officer.

Immediately, PO2 Paylado gave the pre-arrange signal to his colleagues who immediately cornered Elmetanio.

During her arrest, the police recovered more evidences from the suspect consisting of 10 strips of unused rolled aluminum tin foils, two P100 bills used as buy bust money and P500 in different denominations believed to be the sales from her illegal activity.

The arresting police officers executed their affidavit before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor’s yesterday to support the complaint for violation of Section 5, Article II of R.A. 9165 against Elmetanio. (FREEMAN NEWS)
