3 CIT students top electrical engineering exam

CEBU, Philippines - Three students from Cebu Institute of Technology landed in the top 10 of the licensure examination of electrical engineering held last May 25-26.

Jay Yburan delos Reyes placed third with 87 percent while Jan Mikhail de Guzman Villarino got fifth place with 86.45 percent. 

Seventh placer was Ronnel Jhon Bacus Bustamante of Ocaña, Carcar City with 86.5 percent.

A graduate of the Mapua Institute of Technology topped this year’s licensure examination, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said yesterday.

Rey Kindar Calle Jr. led in the licensure examination held last May with a score of 88 percent. He was followed in second place by Be Bryan Escabal of Mindanao State University and Lorwin Felimar Torrizo of University of the Philippines Los Baños with a score of 87.75 percent.

Only 457 out of the 1,611 examinees passed the examination held in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Legazpi

According to Engr. Erwin J. Salvador of CIT, Delos Reyes, Villarino and Bustamante are scholars of Visayan Electric Company and are members of the school’s baseball team.

Salvador said the three will receive cash incentives from the school for their achievement.

Bustamante and Villarino said they are thankful to God for helping them, adding that they did not expect to be in the top 10. — THE FREEMAN
