Two shot in Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - They were supposed to be just celebrating their fiesta, but a man ended up dead after he tried to pacify in the trouble that erupted during a party in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.

Rolando Canillo, 26, was drinking with Richard Torres Misterio, 26, in a dance party along with brothers Junjun and Jessie Samarana of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental. 

PO2 Epifanio Comedido and officers of the Talisay City Homicide Section gathered from witnesses that Canillo and Misterio were trying to pacify a commotion when Junjun shot Canillo and Jessie stabbed Misterio with a hunting knife.

It was not immediately known what caliber was used to shoot Canillo, who was hit in the upper part of his chest. He was declared dead at the Talisay City District Hospital. Misterio, meanwhile, was later taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) for the treatment of his wound.

The suspects, on the other hand, were able to flee.

In another incident the following day, a man was also shot in Barangay Dumlog, around 8:30 in the morning.

PO3 Mike Espina and the rest of his team learned that the victim, identified as Esteban Cauba, 36, was standing on the road when he was shot by the still unknown assailant.

   Cauba was fired at several times and was hit at the right portion of his breast.

He was taken to the Talisay City District Hospital and was later transferred to the VSMMC).

The Talisay City Police Station has yet to arrest the suspects in both incidents.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
