"BLACK SUEDE SCANDAL": Suspension pleases gay florist
CEBU, Philippines - Gay florist Genaro Jorolan was happy and satisfied of the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas to suspend six medical personnel of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical center who were found guilty of misconduct more than two years after his controversial rectal operation video was posted on the internet.
Although the anti-graft office failed to identify the person responsible for uploading the video on the You Tube, a video sharing network, Jorolan said he was already satisfied of the six months suspension meted against Dr. Philipps Leo Arias, the surgeon in charge in the surgery, and one month suspension each for Doctors Angelo Linawagan, Joanne Mae Merilles, Max Joseph Montecillo and Joseph Alfred De Leon and nurse Carmenia Sapio.
“Itugyan na lang na nako sa Ginoo ang tanan,” he said over dyLA.
Except for Arias the other medical personnel were only found guilty of “simple neglect of duty.” Arias was meted six months suspension because he was supposed to be in command being the surgeon in charge in the operation.
Dr. Susana Madarieta, regional director of the Department of Health, said she has yet to receive a copy of the decision.
She assured to implement the order as soon as she has it. Madarieta however said that she is not sure if all of those who were meted suspension by the Ombudsman are still connected with the VSMMC since most of them are resident physicians.
She explained that the residency requirement for physicians is only four years. When the “Black Suede Scandal” happened some of the doctors involved were already in their third year residency.
After winning the administrative case before the anti-graft office, Jorolan is confident that he will come out victorious in the civil case he had lodged against the respondents.
Jorolan admitted that until now he has not returned to his normal life. He said since the incident he continues to be ridiculed.
In fact, there were times that his male neighbors subjected him to physical abuse.
“Dihay mga higayon nga giatangan ko, ila ko nga gituok ug gisagpa,” Jorolan said.
Jorolan said his neighbors wanted to have a share of the amount he supposedly received as payment from the respondents.
He said some of his neighbors believe that he was already paid to keep quiet.(FREEMAN NEWS)
