Cops get reward for Albo arrest
CEBU, Philippines - The police officers who arrested well-known robbery suspect Christopher Albo early this month will be receiving P100,000 as reward from the city government.
The City Council has approved a resolution granting the release of the reward money for the “gallantry and noble act” shown by the arresting officers.
The reward will be shared by Police Chief Inspector Michael Anthony Bastes, PO2 Y-vien Trangia, PO3 Tremaine Sotto, PO2 Christopher Torregosa and SPO4 Mario Revilla from the Police Station 2, SPO4 William Alicaba, SPO1 Jeffrey Diola, SPO1 Raul Cosido Jr., PO3 Rey Dosdos Jr., and PO2 Pompe Tañajura Jr. from the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office, Romel Yburan, Ma. Teresa Yburan and Elizalde Recla of the Barangay Intelligence Network and PO1 Rhalp Vincent Manundo of the Operation branch-CCPO.
Albo, also known as “Abay-Abay,” used to operate with impunity at the south district of Cebu City. He was also the one who allegedly shot to death barangay tanod Danilo Cabaluna who was responding to a robbery incident in Kinasang-an, Pardo February 24.
Albo was also identified as the primary suspect in a shooting incident at Inayawan last April 27 wherein German national Zarko Ljiljak sustained several gunshot wounds.
Albo was arrested in barangay San Isidro, Talisay City last May 12. During the arrest, two transparent heat sealed plastic packs with white crystalline substance containing metamphetamine hydrochloride known as shabu were recovered from him.
To recall, the reward of P100,000 was offered by the city government, particularly Mayor Tomas Osmeña to anyone who can successfully arrest or can lead police to the suspect.
Meanwhile the City Council also approved an ordinance that would enable the city to reward the surviving wife and son of the late PO1 Noriel Luague.
Osmeña promised the reward to Luague’s family following the policeman’s death last December 10, 2007 while on duty.
Luague was one of the officers who raided the house of Ramon “Boy” Baclohan in Barangay Zapatera.
The raid was conducted as a follow-up to the arrest of suspected gun supplier and alleged hit man of the Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) fraternity Aristotle Aves.
Baclohan allegedly was Aves’ contact for services of hired killers. During the raid, police seized from his house three revolvers and several bladed weapons.
Luague and fellow police just received the “Medalya ng Kagalingan” for Aves’ arrest.
The city government, through the ordinance, will allow Luague’s wife and son to stay at the city-owned condominium for free for 10 years.
The city will also assign Luague’s wife to oversee the operation of the planned boarding house for indigent students from the city’s mountain barangays. (THE FREEMAN)
