"Armed men" abandon firearm, get away vehicles
CEBU, Philippines - Policemen, who were trying to arrest a group of armed men, instead recovered a high-powered firearm and two motorcycles believed to be get-away vehicles in Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City shortly past midnight yesterday.
Responding policemen from Pardo Police Station failed to arrest the fleeing suspects and instead recovered a locally-made .9mm Luger Model TEX KG9 machine pistol without a magazine or ammunition.
They also recovered a black Motostar brand motorcycle with plate numbers FX-6410 and a black Honda motorcycle with plate numbers GI-6340.
The police allegedly received a report that at around 12:30 a.m. yesterday, a group of armed men were spotted in Sitio Sario, Barangay Bulacao.
Members of the miscellaneous team led by SPO2 Melchor Jumamil together with PO3s Joel Lacson and Henry Abatayo responded to the call for assistance.
Upon arriving in the area, a group of more or less six alleged armed person scampered in different directions upon sensing the police officers’ presence.
Two of the suspects were reportedly almost cornered during a chase when their motorcycles conked out.
One of the suspects reportedly threw the firearm near the motorcycles before fleeing.
The items recovered are now in police custody for further evaluation and proper disposition. (FREEMAN NEWS)
