Four robbers charged for victimizing jeepney passenger
CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City police are filing robbery charges against four persons who are responsible for several robbery incidents in Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City, the latest of which happened the other night.
Senior Insp. Alfredo Ortiz, chief of Opao Police Station in Mandaue City, identified the suspects as James Carl Flores, 19, of Barangay Alang-Alang; Junrey Antolijao, 19, of Barangay Looc; Narcesiso Bahan and Romar Repaja, both of Barangay Umapad.
According to Ortiz, it was Flores who was the key to the arrest of his three accomplices.
“Silang upat mao usab responsible sa mga nahitabong pagpamusil sa biktima nga negosyante og scrap iron diha sa Barangay Opao sa miaging bulahaton,” Ortiz said.
The four suspects were positively identified by Rachel Ibasco, 44, after they victimized her while she was waiting for a PUJ the other night on A.C. Cortes Avenue in Lapu-Lapu City.
The suspects took Ibasco’s money of undetermined amount, ATM card and bag.
Meanwhile, the suspect in a stabbing of a tricycle driver in Cordova town was arrested by authorities less than 24 hours the incident happened.
Robinson Minguinto, 22, of Barangay Day-as, Cordova town was wanted by the police for allegedly stabbing Rolando Brazil in the chest the other night. The victim is now in critical condition at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
PO2 Calexto Botantan said that Minguinto and Brazil had engaged in heated arguments few weeks ago. But when the two met again, Minguinto immediately stabbed Brazil.
After the incident, the suspect went into hiding but the police were able to trace him after one of his neighbors gave information on his whereabouts.
PO2 Rodello Librado and PO2 Manfred Maarat arrested Minguinto at around 10:55 p.m. last Wednesday. The suspect is now detained at the Cordova Police Station while waiting for attempted murder charges to be filed against him. (FREEMAN NEWS)
