- Lesley Caminade-Vestil -

CEBU, Philippines - The Parole and Probation Administration is recruiting volunteers to help inmates become good citizens and responsible members of their community.

PPA yesterday conducted a Training Program-Holistic Approach seminar for 24 representatives from Visayas and Mindanao so they, in turn, can facilitate those volunteers in their area. The seminar was held at the Cebu Grand Hotel.

According to PPA staff Rene Remullo they conducted the seminar to enhance the volunteerism of the community.

Remullo said that as of the moment in Region 7 they need more volunteers because the current ratio is one volunteer to three clients, he said they target to make this ratio one is to one by the end of the year.

He also said that the core of the program is more on the holistic approach which they can help inmates who seek treatment for imbalances and want to live a more balanced lifestyle.

The clients of the PPAs are the pardoners; or those who were granted pardon by the president; parolees, or those who were given parole by the court and the probationers.

PPA Cecilia project manager Dela Cruz said they want to let the community participate and volunteer for them to understand the pardoners, parolees and probationer who are in need of help.

She also said that they have upcoming training seminars in Bacolod, Davao and Quezon City. (FREEMAN NEWS)
