CEBU, Philippines - One of the alleged organizers of a certain gang called the Crips was arrested by police shortly past midnight yesterday in Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City.
The suspect, later identified as Allan Saavedra Jabonero, alias “Negro”, 25, was arrested after a gun and drug paraphernalia were recovered from his possession.
Jabonero, of sitio Tuburan, Barangay Punta Princesa, was also identified as a notorious robber and one of those responsible for a series of shooting incidents in the barangay, although criminal cases were not filed against him since the family of the victims did not press charge against him.
SPO2 Herminio Seares, PO2 Ruben Perater and PO1 Crisostomo Bayato, all assigned with the Anti-Street Hoodlum Operating Team (A-SHOT) of the Cebu City Police Office were conducting a saturation drive in the area when they arrested the suspect.
Seares said that together with the members of the Barangay Intelligence Network, they patrolled St. Jude Subdivision in Barangay Bulacao when they passed a group of persons drinking in a vacant lot.
The policeman further narrated that he was about to park their police car when he saw that one of the men, later identified as Jabonero, had a gun handle protruding from his back.
Seares warned Perater and Bayato and the two disembarked and confiscated from the suspect a homemade black snub-nosed .38 cal. revolver with four live rounds.
They arrested the suspect and found a strip of aluminum tin foil, a tissue paper rolled as a wick and a disposable lighter after they frisked him.
A charge for violating Republic Act 8294 in relation to Commission on Elections gun ban and Section 2 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the suspect. (FREEMAN NEWS)
