Talisay warns restaurants without space for parking
CEBu, Philippines - Talisay City administrator Richel Bacaltos has threatened to close down restaurant owners along the Cebu South Coasta Road (CSCR) if the establishments can not provide parking spaces for customers.
“Negosyo ra ilang gihuna-huna. Wala gani sila ga-provide og parking area para sa ilang mga customers. Mao ni, we are meeting them this Wednesday to talk about it once and for all. If they still refuse to follow the law, then we have to close them down,” said Bacaltos.
The city administrator was referring to at least four restaurants along CSCR in barangay Cansojong area of which sells “larang” during lunchtime, clogging this portion of the highway with cars.
Bacaltos said he has already discussed the problem with Councilors Ben Abatayo, the city’s traffic czar, who also advised that action has to be done to prevent accidents from happening.
He said they are set to meet with the owners this Wednesday to tell them that they should provide a parking area, or “we will be forced to close them down.”
All of these restaurants are operating without permits, and Bacaltos said city hall “will definitely use this to order the closure of the establishments.”
He said that within the week, he hopes to see the problem addressed.
And to have that implemented, a team from the Traffic Commission will be deployed to the area to see to it that the new measure is followed.
