Suspects in trader's killing arrested
CEBU, Philippines - The elements of the Investigative Management and Detective Bureau (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office arrested after a pursuit last Sunday evening two men suspected of killing a businessman in Mandaue City.
Horacio Villamor, 52, of barangay Estancia-Ibabao, Mandaue City, while driving his car, was shot and killed by one of two men traveling on a motorcycle.
Villamor was with his wife when killed along J. Ouano and P. Burgos streets in barangay Alang-Lang.
Villamor and his wife had just attended Mass at the Christ the King Church in barangay Alang-alang when the men drove beside their vehicle and shot Villamor, hitting him on left arm, which went through his chest.
His wife Marina was not harmed.
As the assailants fled, Villamor gave chase and upon reaching S. B. Cabahug Street, he started to vomit blood and became unconscious.
He was immediately taken to nearby Cortes Hospital were he was declared dead.
However, witnesses described one of the suspects Chinese-looking.
Police picked up Aldrech Raineir Cabahug, 23, and Joseph Kenneth Perez , 21, both residents of N. S. Cabahug Street in barangay Sudlon, Maguikay for questioning.
At the MCPO headquarters, Villamor’s wife positively identified both men as the ones who killed her husband.
Police also found a black Enduro motorcycle inside Cabahug’s house.
Police said the night before the shooting, the Villamors timed their house blessing with the celebration of the Mandaue fiesta.
Police said the Villamors hired a band to entertain their visitors during the affair.
As the affair went on, police said Horacio, who was already drunk, danced with the vocalist of the invited band, Analyn Grace Gordon.
Police said a commotion occurred when the vocalist allegedly showed her disapproval of Horacio’s behavior.
The party was stopped because of the commotion. Gordon’s boyfriend, Aldreich, allegedly was not happy either.
Both suspects are temporarily detained at the Mandaue City Police station 1 pending the filing of murder charges against them. (FREEMAN NEWS)
