CEBU, Philippines - Entertainment and celebrations marked the culmination of the 45-day local campaign period for the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan with an estimated 80,000 crowd in attendance.

The BOPK miting de avance was held last night at the South Road Property simultaneous with the property’s formal launching wherein the city government also lined up several activities.

SRP manager Nagiel Bañacia said the crowd estimate reached up to 80,000 causing a monstrous traffic going in and out of the SRP. The opposition camp dismissed it as a “hakot” crowd.

In a text message from Jonjie Gonzales, PR man of south district congressional candidate Jonathan Guardo, they accused the BOPK of using the government resources for their political ends.

But Bañacia denied the accusations saying these are not paid “hakot” crowd. He admitted though that they have deployed at least eight Kaohsiung buses and barangay buses because the people are requesting it.

At least 40,000 barbecue meal coupons were distributed to their supporters which were used to claim their food from the 600 meters long barbecue stand set up in the area.

The people were entertained by well-known impersonator Willie Nepomuceno who was hired by the BOPK as their way to thank their supporters who have helped them in the campaign.

BOPK candidates led by its standard-bearer Mike Rama also showed their dancing prowess last night dancing to the tune of their respective campaign jingles.

In a brief speech, Mayor Tomas Osmeña thanked their supporters for their help during the 45 days campaign period.

“Sukad-sukad, ang miting de avance menus ang diskurso. I want to present to you the product of my imagination and dreams,” the mayor said referring to the SRP.

He also announced his plan to put up a white sand beach at the SRP. (FREEMAN NEWS)
