CEBU, Philippines - The Supreme Court, through the Society for Judicial Excellence (SJE), has extended the deadline for nominations for the 2010 Search for Outstanding Judges and Clerks of Court to May 28, 2010. Atty. Ma. Luisa L. Laurea, Executive Director of SJE’s Permanent Secretariat, invited the public to send in their nominations with the nominees’ corresponding résumés and the reasons for their nominations on or before the said date.
The awards are for exemplary Regional Trial Court Judges; Metropolitan Trial Court/Municipal Trial Court in Cities/Municipal Circuit Trial Court/Municipal Trial Court Judges and Shari’a Circuit Trial Court Judges; Clerks of Court (First- and Second-Level Courts) and Branch Clerks of Court (First- and Second-Level Courts).
All nominations should be addressed to the Permanent Secretariat, Society for Judicial Excellence, 2nd Floor, Supreme Court Annex Building, Padre Faura Street, Manila, with telefax number (02) 523-1301 and mobile number 0918-9307585, or e-mail judicialexcellence.sec @gmail.com.
In selecting the awardees, the SJE, through its Board of Judges, will take into consideration, among others, integrity and moral character as public servants and private citizens, demonstrated competence, efficiency, effectiveness, independence of mind, judicial decorum, and knowledge of law.
The SJE is chaired by SC Justice Bernardo P. Pardo (ret.), with Court of Appeals Justice Portia Aliño-Hormachuelos as vice chairperson, SC Justice Angelina Sandoval-Gutierrez (ret.) as chairperson emeritus, CA Justice Apolinario D. Bruselas, Jr. as secretary, RTC Judge Rosalina Luna Pison (ret.) as treasurer, and SC Justice Diosdado M. Peralta as auditor.
The SJE will work in coordination with the SC in their pursuit of recognition of excellence in the Judiciary.
