CEBU, Philippines - A drunken man was arrested after he was spotted by a policeman pointing a gun at a 71-year-old grandfather in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City last Saturday night.
Robert Villanueva, 39, a resident of Sitio Kawayan of the said barangay, was arrested for reportedly threatening Cipriano Suares, a resident of Barangay Poblacion with a gun.
Investigation conducted by Talisay police showed that Suares was eating at a carenderia in the place when the suspect, apparently drunk, appeared and suddenly pointed a gun at him for unknown reasons.
SPO1 Benjamin Sebellita, detailed at the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (PAIDSOTG), happened to pass by the area and saw the suspect waving his gun and pointing it against the victim.
Sebellita then arrested the suspect and recovered from the latter’s possession a .38 caliber revolver with six live bullets.
Sebellita turned over the suspect to the Talisay Police Station for proper custody while charges for violation of the Comelec gun ban is being prepared against him. - THE FREEMAN
