CEBU, Philippines - Two men were seriously wounded after they figured in separate hacking and shooting incidents in Carcar City and Tuburan town over the weekend.
In Barangay Ocaña, Carcar City, Roel Lawas was reportedly hacked several times on his body by his neighbor identified as Melvin Natividad, 29.
Lawas had to be transferred from Carcar District Hospital to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment after sustaining several hack wounds.
Police later recovered the blood-tainted knife reportedly used by the suspect from the scene of the incident.
A long time personal grudge reportedly triggered Natividad to suddenly hack Lawas with the use of a butcher’s knife past 10 a.m. yesterday.
The suspect surrendered to the responding tanods of the barangay and was later turned over to the policemen of the city.
Meanwhile, Victor Durano, 31, was also transferred to a hospital in Cebu City due to serious injury he sustained near his genitals after he was shot in a cemetery in Barangay 2, Tuburan town.
Durano, a resident of Barangay 5, was reportedly shot by no less than friend, Russel Calida, alias “Potot,” who then sped away from the scene of the incident.
The two reportedly agreed to meet at the cemetery where the victim would hand over the cellular phone to the suspect in exchange for P800.
When they finally met, instead of handing over the P800, the suspect allegedly suddenly shot the victim after taking the phone. The suspect then fled away.
The police suspected that the two were about to do an “illegal activity” by most possibly exchanging the cellular phone for illegal drugs but the suspect shot him instead.
PO1 Ariel Montebon said the victim is not very cooperative to them in their investigation. - THE FREEMAN
