Robber preys on lending collectors using "Indian pana"
CEBU, Philippines - Two men working as collectors for a lending company were robbed by a lone suspect using an “Indian pana” last Wednesday in Barangay Bungoyan, Borbon town.
At around 10:30 a.m., municipal councilor Expidito Urot called the police station informing that a robbery incident occurred in Barangay Bungoyan.
SPO2 Eufrosino Aguisanda Jr. and his colleagues responded to the area and saw the victims, Alfredo Edison, 28, and Richel Golane, 31, both collectors of CAPS-R Lending Investor based in Bogo City.
The victims narrated to the police officers that they were boarding a motorcycle driven by Golane when, upon reaching the place, Golane was suddenly hit by an “Indian pana” to his left arm. This allegedly made Golane lose control of the vehicle, making them swerve to the side of the road and hit the bushes.
Upon seeing the two victims fell to the ground, the robber allegedly approached them and grabbed the bag that contained P3,000. Golane was rushed to Severo Verallo Memorial Hospital in Bogo City for treatment.
In a phone interview, Aguisanda said that it seemed that the suspect had already positioned himself while waiting for the victims to pass. The victims said the suspect covered his face with a t-shirt, about 5’4’ in height, and fair complexioned.
“Naa man unta na sila’y gwardya pero nauwahi lang,” said Aguinsanda.
Police said the area where the robbery happened is about seven kilometers away from the national highway. It is believed that the suspect is a resident of the place. (FREEMAN NEWS)
