Direct flights from South Korea to Cebu resume next month

CEBU, Philippines - Direct flights from Incheon, South Korea to Cebu will resume next month in a bid to boost tourist arrivals to the island especially in city of Lapu-Lapu, according to Tourism Undersecretary Phineas Alburo.

Alburo yesterday said there will be four direct flights a week.

While Alburo did not show any figure of Korean tourist arrivals in Cebu, he said it is already evident that many Korean tourists visit the country especially Cebu.

"The tourist market is back to normal," Alburo said, adding that "it gives the signal that we are aggressive in our marketing."

Furthermore, Alburo said Cebu continues to be the Philippines’ number one tourism brand, with growth in the industry in Cebu surpassing those in other parts of the Philippines.

Because of this, Alburo said that Mactan will benefit from the growth in the industry.

The Korean market continues to grow and airlines with flights to Cebu from Korea are asking for more frequencies to accommodate the number of Korean tourists booking flights.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
