- Lesley Caminade-Vestil -

CEBU, Philippines - A man died on the spot after an Isuzu tanker ran over him at the national highway in Liloan last Saturday evening.

Billy Fernandez, 27, resident of Estaca, Compostela and a native of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, was driving his bicycle at the national highway when he lost control and fell on his head on the road.

Because of the impact, Fernandez became unconscious on the middle of the road. Danilo Villarin, who was driving the Isuzu tanker, also did not notice the victim as the place was reportedly dark. Villarin ran over the unconscious victim causing his death.

Villarin, 33, resident of Dungo-an Danao City, voluntarily surrendered at the Liloan police station where he is temporarily detained.

SPO4 Remegio Elacion told The FREEMAN that they are still conducting further investigation. He however said they might be filing a criminal complaint for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide against the driver. – THE FREEMAN
