CEBU, Philippines - Former City Traffic Operations Management executive director Dennis Jabonero is facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and Violation of the Comelec Gun ban before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday after police arrested him Monday night.
Jabonero, who denied the accusations, said that he is not the owner of the revolver that was found inside a garbage can in Bliss Housing in Barangay Labangon.
He said that he was just sitting along with a group of youths who scampered away upon seeing policemen in the area.
Jabonero said that police found the gun in the garbage can behind him and cleared that it was not found in his possession.
He asked the prosecutor’s office to give him five days to comment on the charges that were filed against him.
According to the police blotter, his wife Rosita called the Punta Princesa Police Station the other night to report about her husband having a .38 cal. revolver gun with five live rounds.
The police the proceeded to the area and arrested the suspect.
Jabonero, 56, is working at the City Hall assigned to the Office of the Vice Mayor.
He is still detained at the Punta Princesa Police Station as of press time after signing a waiver of detention pending the results of the preliminary investigation. –Jasmin U. Labaco and Niña G. Sumacot/BRP
