CEBU, Philippines - The city government will hire a former provincial official to conduct a research on the legends and history of every barangay in Cebu City.
Mayor Tomas R. Osmeña said he has decided to hire former Cebu provincial administrator Evangeline de Paula to write the book of the legends and the history of the 80 barangays in the Queen City of the south.
Osmeña said that de Paula will receive P15,000 a month as salary. She will be tasked to write the book that will be titled “Cebu City Barangays in Legend and in History.”
The city council gave Osmeña the authority last Friday to sign a contract with de Paula after the bids and awards committee strongly recommended her name for the endeavor.
De Paula used to work with the Capitol during the late Governor Osmundo Rama’s administration. She is a good writer being the editor-in-chief of the Legislative Gavel, the official publication of the Sanguniang Panlalawigan.
She also used to be a member of the Cebu History Committee of the Province of Cebu.
De Paula will be required to conduct interviews of the barangay officials to know recent developments in the barangay and to accept suggestions on how to further enhance the benefits and expediency of the book.
“Nindot tinuod nga duna g’yoy libro nga atong mabasa aron atong mahibaw-an kon ngano nga ang usa ka barangay nakakuha sa iyang ngalan ug ang ubang estorya sa maong dapit,” said one of the City Hall employees. (FREEMAN NEWS)
