CEBU, Philippines - Controversial policeman SPO1 Adonis Dumpit is asking the court to allow him to undergo the physical fitness test required by the Philippine National Police for all its members.
Dumpit’s lawyer, Pedro Leslie Salva, filed a formal motion in court last April 8. Salva said Dumpit has been scheduled to undergo the yearly mandatory physical fitness test on Wednesday, April 14, together with fellow policemen SPO4 Artemio Maglente, SPO3 Domingo Conjurado, SPO4 Reynaldo Matillano, and Police Inspector Ronillo Daligdig.
Salva said the four other police officers are reportedly “willing to escort and take responsibility for accused safety and that the accused will be under their strict custody and control while undergoing his physical fitness test.”
Dumpit’s motion is set to be heard today. He is currently detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group after the court decided it would not be safe for him to be incarcerated at the city jail.
Dumpit was arrested in relation to the alleged shooting of robbery suspect Ronron Go in 2004. — THE FREEMAN
