Interfaith rally for Gibo; volunteers seeking for divine intervention
CEBU, Philippines - An interfaith rally to ask God’s intervention was held at the Capitol grounds last Saturday evening by the volunteers campaigning for administration candidate Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro.
The group, GIBOlunteers, organized the activity which was participated in by representatives from the different religious sectors and from a partylist group.
Members of the Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy or ANAD Partylist and the New Guardians, Incorporated Cebu chapter joined the rally which was attended only by over a hundred people.
With songs and prayers, the GIBOlunteers and supporters expressed how important God’s involvement in the election is. They did not only pray for a peaceful election but also for the victory of their presidential bet.
“We seek Lord’s intervention to help us make Gibo Teodoro the president…” Cebu GIBOlunteers Chairman Rex Carampatana prayed. In his prayer, Carampatana thanked and praised God for giving them Teodoro.
“Wala na’y laing angay mahimong president, only Gibo,” GIBOlunteer Jessa Tapasao said in an interview. She added that Teodoro is a person who has a heart for the people.
ANAD-Cebu staff Raul Boy Carin said that their support is in the Lakas-Kampi CMD standard bearer no matter what happens. “Bisa’g mapilde mi’g maunsa, naa ra gyud mi niya, win or lose,” Carin said.
According to Carin, ANAD Partylist supports Teodoro because they do not want a communist leader. He added that Teodoro does not have a communist member in his lineup.
Carin, who is also the president of NGI-Cebu, said that the entire membership of NGI in the province is supporting Teodoro. “There are more or less 10,000 members of NGI in the province, and I’m pretty sure that they will all vote Gibo as their president,” he assured.
Just before the prayer rally would end, the GIBOlunteers danced and sang along with Teodoro’s campaign jingle with the line “Sulong Gibo! Lipad tayo.” — THE FREEMAN
