Biazon wants 2 years added to elementary
CEBU, Philippines - Because Filipino graduates are banned from getting jobs in Europe, the United States and some parts of Asia, Liberal Party senatorial candidate and current representative of the lone district of Muntinlupa City Rozzano Rufino “Ruffy” Biazon says adding two years of education in the country can make us globally competitive.
In an interview, Biazon said that some foreign countries disagree with a 10-year education program, thus he wants to encourage the next administration to adopt a 12-year education program.
In addition, Biazon opined that if the additional two years will be applied to the basic education, the expenses will be lesser because the government will finance it.
In the meantime, the senatorial candidate asserted that they will encourage the people to agree on having an additional two years of education and let them think of it as an investment so that they will be prepared to be globally competitive.
For the time being, Biazon said that the population in the country is high and everybody needs a lot of time to be shaped into someone he or she wishes to be.
Biazon also shared his priorities during the 36th Regular Weekly Meeting of the Rotary Club of Cebu Fuente at the Casino Español yesterday, these being livelihood, education and health services.
Biazon explained that livelihood not only refers to job creation but also includes looking for a good welfare of every Filipino. With this, he said that for small businesses to flourish there should be programs that offer credit, micro-financing and access to credit, capital and training.
Regarding education, the congressman wants to modernize the quality of education in the country and the construction of additional state colleges and universities.
On health services, he said he wants a more expanded coverage of PhilHealth because not all kinds of sicknesses are covered by this and there are medical institutions not covered by a PhilHealth card.
“Like every parent, we all want our children to be healthy,” he said. – Chessa Elaine Antipuesto, Abigail Libo-on, Dorothy Mae E. Acabo and Sheila Marie E. Catacutan (THE FREEMAN)
