CEBU, Philippines - The City Police Office is not aware of the report that cocaine is being distributed among rich residents of two barangays in the city, as disclosed by former Dangerous Drugs Board Vice Chairman Clarence Paul Oaminal.
CCPO Deputy Director Sr. Supt. Pablo Labra II said they will check on the report.
“Ang CCPO wala pa kadawat ani nga information… basin naa’y laing source si Oaminal. We will verify (on) this news report,” Labra said.
Oaminal said that based on the information he received, cocaine is reportedly being distributed in Barangays Duljo-Fatima and Pasil. The cocaine is reportedly part of the several bricks weighing 1,500 kilos that was dropped off by an unidentified vessel at the coasts of Samar last December.
So far, authorities have recovered reportedly only about 300 kilos of the cocaine.
But Labra said CCPO has, so far, not arrested anyone in possession of cocaine. Those arrested recently were in possession of illegal drugs and nubain.
Labra said the 65 grams of cocaine seized on the second week of March during a buy-bust operation was but a sort of trans-shipment wherein the suspect was probably testing the waters to determine if peddling cocaine would be successful in the city.
“Nagpaminaw sa na sila sa pulso sa mga law enforcement agencies diri sa city,” Labra said. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
