Woman seriously injured after multicab hits bike

CEBU, Philippines - A woman was seriously injured after the motorcycle she was riding was hit by a multicab driven by a still unidentified person past 9pm last Friday in front of the Cebu City Central School along P. Del Rosario Street.

The victim, identified as Razel Saranza, 24, of Yati, Lilo-an, is currently under observation at the Cebu Doctor’s Hospital. She was first brought to the Cebu City Medical Center, but was later transferred to CDH.

Saranza was riding in pillion on board a motorcycle with plate number 7LP-161 driven by another woman, Nenemiah Illurino, when a white multicab hit them and dragged the motorcycle towards a public utility jeepney parked nearby. Due to the force of the collision, Saranza was thrown off the motorcycle and fell on the pavement a few meters away.

The parked PUJ with plate number GVN-224 and route number 17B was being manned by Domingo Asentista, 36, of Manlapay, Dumanjug.

Instead of stopping, the white multicab with plate number YFF-454 reportedly sped away and hit yet another multicab driven by one Rafel Bolneo, 54, of Barangay Buhisan.

As of yesterday, it was not clear which of the two plate numbers, BYB-160 or YBB-160, the white multicab was registered under.

The Cebu City Traffic Group is currently conducting further investigation to determine the identity of the person driving the white multicab. The driver is facing possible charges of reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries and damage to properties.

Meanwhile, a few hours earlier that day, a police car hit a jeepney along Gorordo Avenue in front of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas – Cebu College past 3pm.

Police Officer 1 Ronnie Barrita was driving the PNP-owned car with plate numbers SHG-967 towards the Cebu City Police Office when he stopped to avoid colliding with another vehicle. Unfortunately, however, the police car bumped the rear portion of the PUJ driven by one Roldan Bontuyan.
