Lapu-Lapu to lease lot for tricycle terminal
CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Council has authorized Mayor Arturo Radaza to enter into an agreement with a private entity for the lease of a parcel of land where a terminal for tricycles will be built.
Vice Mayor Mario Amores, the council presiding officer, banged the gavel after the council approved en masse giving the mayor the authority to the mayor to enter into a contract with Ricardo Roon.
Roon owns the 2, 722 square-meter lot in barangay Poblacion.
Radaza said there is a need to lease the property because "of the fast paced development of the city and the concomitant increase in transportation" especially tricycle for hire.
For and in consideration of the use, occupancy and enjoyment of the leased premises, the city government will be paying P14,000 every month to the owner.
The contract specifies that the city may use, construct, install any improvements, either temporary or permanent, provided that it will not increase the actual area of the leased premises.
The city may also conduct repairs or improvements on the leased premises at the expense of the government without corresponding obligation of reimbursement. – Garry B. Lao (THE FREEMAN)
