Bangon Pilipinas gets backing of religious group

-

CEBU, Philippines - The religious group Forth Worth Ministry has reportedly assured two million supporters to Bangon Pilipinas, the political movement led by religious leader Eddie Villanueva.

Former broadcaster Kata Inocencio, one of the senatorial bets of Bangon Pilipinas, said yesterdayForth Worth Ministry is among the several religious groups that have reportedly expressed support to their party, but they hope to also get the support of El Shaddai and the Iglesia ni Kristo, two of the biggest religious groups in the country.

The two groups have since earned the reputation of giving a solid vote to the candidate they support.

“It’s time for our country to have people with courage to challenge the traditional politics…for many years in the position, wala silang nagawa… we are offering ourselves to the people,” Inocencio said.

Inocencio said human trafficking, specifically the trafficking of children, is one of the main priorities she and Villanueva would address if they are elected into office. The Philippines ranks third in Asia as far as the number of cases of human trafficking is concerned.

Inocencio said there are about two million victims of human trafficking in the country and most of them reportedly come from the Visayas and Mindanao.

Villanueva and the rest of the Bangon Pilipinas candidates yesterday went to Upper Tipolo in Mandaue City to visit residents affected by a fire years ago. They also went to the Carbon Public Market.

Today, the group will hold a religious activity at the Cebu International Convention Center to give tribute to the birth of Christianity when Magellan came to Cebu on March 16, 1910. By 4pm, the group will be at the Fuente Osmeña for a Meeting de Avance, during which around 20,000 supporters are expected to attend. — Antoniette Parce/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
