CEBU, Philippines - Packs of confiscated shabu will be destroyed today at the sala of judge Macaundas Hadjirasul of Regional Trial Court Branch 8 after he ordered the action in pursuant to Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
The method of destruction? These will be flushed down the toilet.
This order was made last month for 38 separate cases filed in the court of Hadjirasul from mid last year to the end of 2009.
Included in the packs to be destroyed are six heat-sealed plastics packs amounting to 0.18 grams of the illegal drug from the accused Felipe Vergara, 0.05 grams of shabu from Arnel Vendiola, 3.92 grams from Ryan Rubi, 0.01 gram from Reycardo Nuyana, 0.05 grams from Erwin Beldad and Jeff Lebumfacil, 0.04 grams fro Edilberto Delima, 0.03 grams from Jayson Vinuya, 0.02 grams from Heridito Cuizon, 0.02 grams from Aries Quijano, 0.02 grams from Raul Languardia, 0.02 grams from Dennis Desucatan and 0.05 grams of Shabu from Concordia Espedido.
Another 0.02 grams was confiscated from Arnold Tomaquin and will be destroyed together with the 0.02 grams from Roberto Rubi, 0.06 grams from Manuel Genzon, 0.02 grams from Cesar Reynes, 0.01 gram from Jenny Malinas, 0.03 grams from Richard Suico, 0.03 grams from Willie Rambonanza, 0.02 grams from Jerry Adolfo, 0.02 grams from Pedro Vergara, 0.02 grams from Rogelio Parba, 0.05 grams from Ryan Gabutan, 0.02 grams from Danilo Sepada, 0.05 grams from Melchor Gabunada and Gerald Dungog and 6.13 grams from Lando and Ernesto Gimenez.
The 0.01 grams confiscated from Reenante Abatol will also be destroyed as well as another 0.01 grams from Roger Mancao, 0.02 grams from Marino Mesias Jr., one plastic pack from Arcele Tanyag, 0.86 grams from Ernesto Canaya, 0.02 grams from Richard Quijano, 0.02 grams from Clarence Laguna, 0.01 grams from Jeffry Vestil, 0.15 grams from Arlene Dacang, 0.02 grams from Oliver Cababahay, 0.10 grams from Junard Chavez and Victor Damiles, 5.90 grams from Herodes dela Cruz and 0.81 grams from Ronald Tumulak.
The order of Hadjirasul is in line with RA 9165 which is the “policy of the State to safeguard the integrity of its territory and the well-being of its citizenry particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of dangerous drugs on their physical and mental well-being, and to defend the same against acts or omissions detrimental to their development and preservation.”
Aside from members of media, required representatives from the City prosecutor’s office, Public Attorney’s office, the Cebu City government, Philippine National Police regional Crime Laboratory Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of Health and the Dangerous Drugs Board will be witnesses to the destruction of the illegal drugs as stated in the law. — AJ de la Torre/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
