CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City has donated P1.5 million in response to the increasing number of patients seeking medical assistance at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Councilor Marcial Ycong, chairman of the committee on budget and finance, said Mayor Arturo Radaza was only responding to the city residents’ dilemma in meeting expenses.
It is not only Lapu-Lapu that has extended assistance to Vicente Sotto.
Since 2008, Liloan town has also been extending assistance to indigent patients from the town who seek medical help from the Eversley Hospital in nearby Mandaue City.
Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco, signed a memorandum of agreement to turn over an initial P130,000 to the hospital.
Mayor Frasco said that with the agreement, the financial assistance will pay for the patients expenses.
A similar agreement with the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center is planned. The assistance to be given, however, would be facilitated by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
Since he assumed office, Mayor Frasco has focused on the delivery of health services for his people. – Garry B. Lao (FREEMAN NEWS)
