CEBU, Philippines - Another alleged gang member was reportedly shot and killed by his own gangmates in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City past 8 p.m. last Tuesday.
Jeffrey Maloloy-on Jakosalem, 18 years old, an alleged Crips gang member succumbed to several gunshot wounds he sustained on his body after he was shot by a certain “Erap” and two other unidentified men who were reportedly also members of the gang.
Investigation showed that the victim was sleeping on a wooden bench across the San Roque Chapel when the assailants came and shot him several times before fleeing immediately from the area.
The victim, who was hit in various parts of his body, reportedly managed to run but shortly after, he fell to the ground.
Virgilio Ramiso, tanod of the said barangay, rushed him to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was declared dead later.
At the crime scene, barangay tanods recovered a deformed slug and turned it over to the city police.
It was Primitivo Jakosalem, 69, grandfather of the victim, who allegedly told the police that his grandson is a Crips gang member but was associated with friends who were members of a rival gang called Bloods.
Days ago, the victim was also allegedly shot by Erap but missed.
The victim was reportedly accused of shooting Jeremiah Galupo on November 22 at Ocampo Drive, Inayawan.
Police believe that the incident is most motivated by personal grudge or retaliation of the suspect relative to last November’s shooting incident. His connection with the rival gang is also being looked into as a motive of the incident.
For the past week, the city was bombarded with a series of shooting incidents related to a gang war.
Just recently, barely 24 hours before this incident happened, two teenagers were killed in a gang-related violent incident in Barangay Tejero prompting police to intensify their operations against gangsters. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
