Manila firm gets contract for cams

CEBU, Philippines - The Mactan Cebu Bridge Management Board passed a resolution yesterday, which awarded the contract to supply, deliver and install security monitoring systems at the two bridges linking Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City. 

The contract, worth P4.8 million, was awarded Manila-based supplier Integrated Security and Automation, Inc. The firm is also responsible in the upgrading and expansion of the security system. 

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, chairman of MCBMB, yesterday emphasized the importance of installing security cameras at the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Members of the board also shared Garcia’s sentiments, saying the increasing development in Cebu needs a close monitoring of traffic at the two bridges.

The presence of security cameras would also help authorities respond to emergency situations such as when a vehicle gets stalled at the two bridges and when crimes are committed wherein suspects use the bridges as easy means of escape.

In its meeting last January 18, MCBMB authorized its Bids and Awards Committee to process the procurement of the items for the upgrading and expansion of the Traffic and Security Monitoring System for the two Mactan-Mandaue Bridges.

Such move of the bridge board aims for better quality monitoring and the decision to eliminate the expensive hiring of security guards at both facilities.

The resolution further said that in a Technical Working Group meeting for the Traffic Security Monitoring System, the group recommended that the Automation Mode of Procurement be the best manner of acquiring the equipment for the expansion and upgrading of the security systems.

The Integrated Security and Automation Inc. is a sole distributor and dependable service of the bridges, traffic security and monitoring system.
