Guardo man claims Margot forced him to take off Atan shirt

CEBU, Philippines - A leader of congressional candidate Jonathan Guardo yesterday accused Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s wife, Margot, of forcing him to remove the T-shirt he was wearing that bore Guardo’s name.

Roberto Caballes, a resident of Banawa, barangay Guadalupe, said Margot told him that she would replace his Guardo T-shirt with the one bearing her name and her husband’s.

“Wala ko makabalibad dihang giingnan ko ni Margot nga mahimo ba kuno nga huboon ang akong gisul-ob nga T-shirt kay iyang ilisan sa ilang T-shirt kay diha siya’y kaubang bodyguard,” Caballes said.

Caballes said Margot was visiting Banawa around 8 a.m. yesterday when she saw him wearing the orange T-shirt of Guardo.

But the mayor’s wife, who is running for councilor in the south district, said she only requested Caballes if it would be okay for him to remove his clothes.

“Wala man nako siya pugsa. I just offered a T-shirt for him to wear and he accepted. Kon iyang iuli ang T-shirt nga akong gihatag there’s no problem,” Margot said.

According to Caballes, his orange T-shirt was taken by the mayor’s wife. “Ila man ko nga giingnan nga ako na lang na ang imong T-shirt. Ambot hain na karon ang akong T-shirt, basin ila na nga gidauban.”

Guardo, for his part, criticized Margot and described her as desperate.

“Maayo pa og mag-concentrate na lang siya pagka manicurista if she can’t stand the heat,” Guardo said, referring to Margot’s “Oh My Gwapa! Beauty, Healthy and Happy” program which provides free manicure and beauty services to women in the barangays. – Rene U. Borromeo/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
