No work for SRP employees from 10am - 3pm

CEBU, Philippines - The more than 30 “job order employees” of the city government assigned at the South Road Properties will no longer be required to work from 10am until 3pm.

SRP manager Nagiel Bañacia said he decided to modify the schedule of work among those assigned at the SRP because of the intense heat they experience thereat.

Under the revised work schedule, however, employees assigned at the SRP will have to start working earlier and end at a later time. They will have to report 6am, two hours earlier than the original schedule. They can rest from work by 10 am and resume with their tasks from 3pm to 6pm.

“Pwerteng inita g’yod sa SRP panahon sa udto mao nga wala na sila’y mahimong trabaho. I have decided to change their work schedules,” Bañacia said.

Many of the personnel assigned at the SRP have reportedly complained of headache due to the intense heat.

The modified work schedule only compels the employees to work seven hours a day, instead of the eight hours, but Bañacia said he does not mind one hour difference as long as the employees do their job right.

“Walay problema kana para nako kong straight lang ang ilang trabaho. Kay kon patrabahoon sila’g udto sige man lang usab og lingkod ug tago sa landong. Bisan og unom lang ka oras ang trabaho basta dako og agi, walay problema. That’s part of the management strategy. Again, output is needed. The aim is productivity and to protect the health of the job order personnel,” Bañacia said.

The job order personnel are in charge of weeding out the SRP, cleaning the coast, and painting the road gutters.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña, for his part, said he is leaving everything to Bañacia.
