MANILA, Philippines - The Traffic Management Board of Mandaue City wants to hire additional traffic enforcers.
In his letter to the city council, Jomar Ostia, the executive director of the Traffic Management Board told the council that the “rigorous management of the daily volume of vehicular traffic and the strict enforcement of all laws and city ordinances can only be dealt with the sufficient number of traffic enforcers who are mandated to enforced such laws.”
Ostia said the hiring of additional traffic enforcers is a must now since the present number of traffic enforcers in the city is not enough to manage the volume of vehicles especially that the city is highly urbanized.
Ostia said the opening of the new public market sometime this April and the opening of a new travel line for PUJs that would serve the commercial establishments at the Reclamation Area could also produce a host of concerns.
During last Tuesday’s session, Ostia’s letter was referred to the committee on appropriation, budget and finance, headed by Councilor Emiliano Rosal. – Flor Z. Perolina
