Moalboal police car falls off cliff
CEBU, Philippines - Two members of the Moalboal Police Station and a civilian escaped unhurt when the patrol they were riding fell into a ravine while they were on their way to serve a subpoena in Barangay Buguil last Tuesday morning.
The policemen came from sitio Taguinis in barangay Bala bound for barangay Buguil to serve a subpoena against Celestino Salunoy and Jommel Enfante, who were accused of theft, when the incident happened.
The patrol car, a Mitsubishi jeep bearing plate number SHN-575, was driven by Michael Lagera, civilian driver employed with the municipal government of Maolboal. His companions were PO3 Remberto Empeynado and PO3 Fabrio Fernandez.
Upon reaching sitio Taguinis, the vehicle lost its brakes and bumped into a mahogany tree, causing it to fall off a cliff.
According to PO2 Jenilyn Awe of Moalboal Police Station Women’s Desk, it was a legitimate trip since her colleagues were serving a subpoena.
“Legitimate ni kay duty man sila ato. Dili man pud to hubog ang driver kay buntag pa man to,” Awe said. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc/LPM
