Lapu-Lapu prepares to sign up pathologist

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Council has approved the request of Mayor Arturo Radaza to enter into a contract with a pathologist as a requirement to operate a drug testing center.

The Lapu-Lapu City Health Office Testing Center has been operating since 2006 and has been accredited by the Department of Health in Manila.

In a memorandum of agreement, the city allows the mayor to sign a memorandum of agreement with Dr. Judito Caballero as a pathologist.

Under the agreement, Caballero will be receiving P2,000 as honorarium for the services he will be rendering as pathologist of the city health office clinical laboratory.

Also, he will report to the city health officer any findings that need to be corrected immediately so as not to hamper the services of the clinical laboratory.

On the other hand, Liloan town will soon operate its medical facility with an emergency room and an intensive care room that are open 24 hours a day.

In an interview with The Freeman, Mayor Vincent Franco "Duke" Frasco said the facility has a 12-bed capacity.

He said the existing health center, which is located in barangay Poblacion, will be named the Liloan Medical Center.

“Naa na unya ta'y ICU, emergency room, laying center ug pharmacy niini," Frasco said.

According to Frasco, he sees the need to put up an emergency room for the center considering the incident his family experienced in 1999.

At that time, his grandmother suffered a massive heart attack and the nearest hospital was hours away from home, taking into account the traffic jams.

"For emergency cases, kinahanglan ang emergency room duol," he said. – Garry B. Lao   (FREEMAN NEWS)
