LP bets to mark Edsa I anniversary in Mandaue

-

CEBU, Philippines - Local candidates of the Liberal Party vowed to muster at least 10,000 crowd to mark the 24th anniversary celebration of the Edsa People Power I, wherein Mandaue City is one of the 10 cities nationwide to host a simultaneous activity.

LP gubernatorial bet Hilario Davide III yesterday announced that local candidates and their supporters will gather at the Mandaue City Sports Complex to commemorate the historic event of the country on February 25.

At least four LP senatorial candidates are expected to grace the activity who include senatorial candidates Franklin Drilon, Sergio Osmeña III, Neric Acosta and Liza Hontiveros-Baraquel.

A live-feed from the ANC News Channel of the activities in Manila will be seen in Cebu as well as in other cities where a simultaneous activity of the party will be held.

LP 6th district chairman Edmund Sanchez said that Cebu is chosen as one of the 10 venues for the simultaneous activity because of its important role in the people power that restored the country’s democratic rule.

Sanchez said the activity on February 25 is only one of the series of activities that they have prepared prior to the major party event on February 27 when the formal proclamation rally of LP candidates will be held at the Cebu City Sports Center that will be spearheaded by no less than LP standard bearer Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino and his runningmate Senator Manuel Roxas II.

Aquino’s girlfriend Shalani Soledad is also expected in Cebu on February 21 to attend the LP Bingo in Polpogan, Consolacion. — Fred P. Languido and Flor Z. Perolina/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
