CEBU, Philippines - It is final – only one Rama is running for a position in Cebu City for this year’s elections.
For being moot and academic, the Commission on Elections yesterday dismissed the petition of Vice Mayor Michael Rama to disqualify Dorotheo Rama as a candidate.
The Comelec said it useless to discuss the petition, considering that Dorotheo has already withdrawn his candidacy. Dorotheo, who filed his certificate as candidate of the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino, withdrew his candidacy even before the vice mayor could file his petition.
Rama, who attended what was supposed to be a hearing of his petition, thought at first that the Comelec dismissed his plea for lack of merit.
“Kataw-anan kaayo kay nakuyawan ko pagkadungog nako sa order kay giingon man nga gi-dismiss ang petisyon… mao nga ako g’yod nga gibasa ang dispositive portion sa order,” Rama said.
Even with one problem down, the Bando Osmeña- Pundok Kauswagan admits the participation of candidates with the same family names as those of three of BOPK’s bets remains a dilemma.
