Healing priest to celebrate Masses at the Basilica

-

CEBU, Philippines - Well-known healing priest Fr. Fernando Suarez will be the main celebrant of a healing Mass this February 10, beginning 5:30 p.m., at the Basilica del Sto. Niño.

According to Dr. Jose R. Gullas, who invited Fr. Suarez with the approval of Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and the Augustinian priests of the Basilica, Fr. Suarez will preside the healing Mass that precedes the commemoration of “Ang Pagkanaug sa Birhen sa Lourdes”—an annual tradition at the Basilica held a day before the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes on Feb. 11.

“Ang Pagkanaug” is long-running activity first started by Don Juan Rivera and Doña Andrea Villariza Rivera, grandparents of Dodong Rivera Gullas. After the “Ang Pagkanaug,” Fr. Suarez will hold a Mass healing pray-over. Those who have serious illnesses and use wheelchair are requested to register early. Registration for the healing Mass starts at 3 p.m.

Fr. Suarez is a Canada-based missionary priest who is famous in Catholic communities here and abroad for his healing ministry.

His healing Masses are always jam-packed, and in his website, www.fatherfernando.com, testimonials of the priest’s healing touch continue to grow exponentially.

One testimony came from Randy Candelaria, a Filipino based in California. He posted: “I was diagnosed in October 2008 with stage 4 cancer.

A month after Father Suarez laid his hands over me, I was supposed to have a bone marrow transfusion. I was confirmed in my last PET scan, as of March 2009, of being cleared of stage 4 lymphoma and didn’t need the bone marrow transplant. By God’s graces through Fr. Suarez’s hands, I am cured. I am living proof of God’s work.”

Albert Chan Paran of Minglanilla, Cebu also wrote a testimonial: “My mom, Nieves Chan Paran, was crippled after she slipped off from the slippery bathroom floor three years ago. She underwent a series of surgeries for her to walk again but she suffered from a stroke, which made her unable to walk and talk. All of us were crying for joy when she was instantly and miraculously healed after Fr. Suarez prayed over her. We were stunned to see her moving her arms, hands and legs. She now stands on her own without aid. We personally witnessed God’s healing touch through his instrument, Fr. Suarez.”

In media interviews, Fr. Suarez stressed that his healing ministry is “not about me. It’s about God.”

“I don’t give false hope – I never say that if they come, every cripple will walk, every blind person will see, everyone with cancer will be cured. No. I tell them to be open to God. The bottom line is, it’s all about God’s will.” — Nathalie M. Tomada   (FREEMAN NEWS)
