Minor assaults Dumanjug teacher

-

CEBU, Philippines - A public school teacher at the Dumanjug Central School went to the police station to report on a minor who reportedly went inside her classroom at around 6 p.m. last Thursday and allegedly attacked her.

The teacher was identified as Lucenea Formento, 33 years old, a Grade-5 teacher and a resident of Dumanjug while the male minor is described only as ranging from 15 to 16 years old, with fair complexion, and with a height of 5 feet 4 inches.

SPO1 Joselito Abella told The FREEMAN that the teacher was left alone in her homeroom after the afternoon class.

Before going home, Formento went inside the comfort room located inside her classroom to pee, leaving the main door of the classroom open. But just after she came out from the CR, she was surprised to see the minor standing inside the room behind the already closed door.

Formento then asked the boy of his intention for coming to her classroom. The boy responded that he also wants to use the CR.

Doubtful of the boy’s reason, Formento told him to leave. But the boy reportedly suddenly pushed her to the floor, started beating her, and then wringed her neck.

The Dumanjug Police received the information from an unidentified girl and immediately responded to the report. However, the boy already fled when they reached the scene. They also tried to conduct a pursuit operation in the town but failed to find the minor.

Possible motives of the minor in relation to the attack which are now considered by the police are rape attempt, robbery, and harboring a grudge against the teacher for a personal rift prior to the incident.

Further investigation is still to be conducted for the police to establish the identity of the minor.

In another attack, a high school student got wounded after he was stabbed by two unidentified men along P. Lopez Street, barangay Kalubihan, here in Cebu City, yesterday dawn.

The victim was Christian Tagsip Ligan, 18, a fourth-year high school student of the Mandaue Technical School, and a resident of barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City.

Initial investigation conducted by personnel of the Cebu City Police Office-Homicide Section stated that the victim had just bought herbal medicine for his common-law wife at a drug store along P. Lopez St., near a university when the assailants tailed him while the victim was on his way to Colon St.

The two assailants were reportedly armed with bladed instruments and an improvised ice-pick and suddenly stabbed him for no apparent reason, hitting him in the back and in the right torso.

Although wounded, the victim was able to run and got onboard a trisikad in going to the Cebu City Medical Center while the perpetrators fled towards Calderon St.

Further investigation is yet to be conducted to determine their identities and for their arrest. — Antoniette T. Parce/MEEV      (FREEMAN NEWS)
