Inauguration of new school buildings in Sogod set today

CEBU, Philippines - Governor Gwendolyn Garcia will visit the municipality of Sogod today for the inauguration of newly completed school buildings.

Nine units of two-classroom buildings will be inaugurated in Sogod today.The newly completed school buildings are located in barangays Poblacion, Bagatayam, Calumboyan, Mohon, Lubo and Liki.Sogod Mayor Lissa Marie “Monyeen” Durano, together with the other town officials, department heads, and barangay officials are set to meet the governor and others from the Cebu Provincial Capitol today.Garcia is also scheduled to do the same in Carcar City tomorrow where newly asphalted roads will also be opened for public use.

The completion of new school buildings is part of the massive repair and construction works undertaken by the provincial government for elementary and secondary schools in the various component cities and municipalities of the Cebu Province in preparation for the opening of classes in June.

According to Provincial Board member Juan Bolo, who heads the committee on education, Capitol has also allocated funds for the purchase of computers to help strengthen information-technology education in both grade school and high school. — Jose P. Sollano/MEEV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
